Interdisciplinary Yoga Instructor

Angela has been on the path of self-discovery and self-study since she was a child. She is an interdisciplinary Bhakti Yogi (Devotional Yogi). Angela’s first of many teachers were her family. They were role models for Union with the Divine, as well as for love of nature, travel, and exploration. Angela’s discovery of Hatha Yoga (Physical Yoga) came after a few years of “suffering” from an eating disorder, while studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Immediately, she knew that Yoga would be a part of the rest of her life.

Angela combines her studies, experience, and understanding of the Ashtanga Yoga System, Jivamukti Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Intergral Yoga, Bhakti Yoga (Devotional Yoga), and Jnana Yoga (Intellectual Yoga). Her natural love for people is one of the reasons she shares her understanding of the science and practice of Yoga. She encourages and challenges her students physically, mentally, and spiritually by allowing them to find their own way to Yoga. There is an element of focus and concentration, well-balanced with lightness, joy, and a sense of humor in all her classes. Practitioners are guided to experience and live their personal understanding of YOGA… of UNION.

Angela has had the honor of practicing with many Masters of Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, and Restorative Yoga through numerous retreats, workshops, classes, and Teacher Trainings. Some of the more well-known Masters of these disciplines that she has studied with include: Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, James Butkevich, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Swami Bua, Amba Stapleton, and Don Stapleton of Nosara Institute. Angela has studied Sanskrit with Manorama from Luminous Soul Sanskrit Studies, and chanting with many Bhakti Yogis, such as Krishna Das, Nina Rao, and Bhagavad Das. Angela also attributes her understanding of Yoga and the mind to her literary studies of many Buddhist and Yogic texts.

Over the past twenty-seven years, her strong attraction to nature and solitude have influenced her to develop an in-depth practice of countless, month-long travel experiences. The Himalayas and the Southwest of the United State have experientially developed Angela by combining the exposure of nature with meditation, Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, chanting, hiking, climbing, swimming in Mountain lakes, soaking in natural hot springs, skydiving, snorkeling, kayaking, and reading. Angela is going on her nineteeth-year of teaching Yoga. She has led numerous YogAdventure Retreats to Costa Rica and the Caribbean island of St. John., beautiful "upstate" New York, and the majestic and magical Sedona, Arizona. She enjoys travel and bringing people together, so naturally Yoga, travel, and inner-and-outer-adventure had to go together.

She has counseled people with eating disorders. She strongly believes food is medicine for the body and the soul. She has studied herbalism and nutrition since she was a teen, both formally (in college), as well as informally. She believes yoga and meditation are medicine for the body, mind, and soul. Through her beliefs and personal experiences, Angela will continue her studies and continue to encourage people to find well-being and true wellness of body, mind, and spirit!

Recently, Angela had been diagnosed with an "incurable" autoimmune disease, which made it virtually impossible for her to teach and to share yoga. She has since cured herself of this illness, along with the numerous injuries associated with it, by using Ayurvedic Medicine. Ayurveda is a five-thousand year old system of medicine that is a sister to the science and practice of Yoga. She is happy to share the healing techniques of Yoga and Ayurveda with those who would like to learn from her.

She is also the Teacher-Trainer for Breast Cancer Yoga, a system of restorative Yoga created by her friend and mentor, Diana Ross. Breast Cancer Yoga was Diana’s life-work. Angela is honored to continue sharing this brilliant, science-based Yoga with the world.

With twenty-seven years of yogic-study, Angela has shared Yoga with thousands of people, and has certified over one-hundred teachers. She hopes to continue until the end of this life, and for lifetimes to come.

May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
