Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support. Frequently, the chair yoga student is unable to participate in a traditional yoga class, due to the effects of aging or disabilities. However, chair yoga is a great practice for everyone. It deepens flexibility while strengthening personal body awareness.
Chair yoga has helped people with the symptoms of many health issues, including: hypertension (high blood pressure), anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, vertigo, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, osteopenia, carpal tunnel sydrome, clinical depression, and chronic pain.
In this training, you will be made aware of common conditions faced by chair yoga students and how to to work with them to effectively facilitate relaxation, healing, and strengthening.
Chair yoga is one of the gentlest forms of yoga available. Complicated maneuvers and complex movements are not present in this type of class. Within a chair yoga class, you can cover standing, seated, and prone postures. Most often, you will use the chair only, due to some students’ difficulty with getting down or up off the floor. This training will teach you how to formulate a chair yoga class so that your students receive all of the benefits of physical yoga without strain or danger of injury.
